The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire, 27 April 2011 presents a richly layered woodland scene, where slender tree trunks rise through a field of dense, luminous green growth. Pale yellow branches contrast with the surrounding foliage, while clusters of small yellow blossoms punctuate the landscape. Along the lower edge of the composition, a narrow path passes through dappled shade, with shadows from the canopy above falling across it. Fresh grass and scattered wildflowers appear at the base of the trees, while hints of orange shoots on the right signal the height of spring in the Yorkshire countryside.

The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, 27 April 2011 also holds an important position within the wider market history of the series. It formed part of a group of selected works that appeared at public auction in late 2025, an event that unexpectedly reinforced confidence in Hockney’s digital landscapes. Rather than softening demand, the sale attracted heightened interest from collectors, with every work outperforming expectations and the series reaching a new benchmark at auction. The strong result achieved renewed visibility for the series and confirmed its ongoing relevance within Hockney’s print market.
