    The Arrival of Spring in Woldgate, East Yorkshire, 19 March 2011 is an iPad drawing by David Hockney from his Arrival of Spring in Woldgate series. Dated to mid-March, the work records a transitional moment in the landscape, where a sunlit country lane cuts through emerging spring greens and tall, leafless trees. A small brick structure appears along the right edge of the composition, a recurring feature within the series that anchors the scene within the familiar rural setting of Woldgate.
     
    Created during a period when Hockney was refining his digital drawing process, this work reflects the growing confidence and complexity of his iPad practice. Hockney had already developed a distinctive visual language using digital tools, building on earlier series such as the Yosemite Suite and applying them to sustained observation of the Yorkshire countryside across consecutive dates.
