    Andy Warhol, considered the driving force of the pop art movement in the 1960s, devoted his career to celebrating consumerism, celebrity and American culture. Gaining prominence in the 1960s with works celebrating mass culture, including his iconic Campbell’s Soup Cans, Coca-Cola Bottles, and silkscreened portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, and Elizabeth Taylor. Using repetition and bright, bold colours, he turned everyday objects and celebrities into art, challenging traditional definitions of artistic value.

     

    Warhol’s studio, 'The Factory', became a hub for artists, musicians, and socialites. It reflected his fascination with fame, media, and the avant-garde. At The Factory, Warhol created his renowned visual artworks as well as a prolific body of experimental films. His collaborations with various musicians, including The Velvet Underground and Lou Reed, further cemented his influence across multiple creative disciplines.
