    Prints & Multiples

    1953 - Now
Yayoi Kusama is widely known for her prints and multiples, which extend her signature motifs of polka dots, infinity nets, and pumpkins. These works capture Kusama’s unique visual language, often exploring themes of obsession, self-obliteration, and the infinite.

Her prints frequently feature bold colours, repetition, and surreal compositions. Kusama employs silkscreen, lithography, and woodcut techniques to produce striking two-dimensional works that mirror her larger paintings and installations. Many prints incorporate her iconic polka dots, symbolising the idea of cosmic interconnectedness, a recurring theme in her art. Other pieces highlight her fascination with organic shapes, particularly pumpkins, representing personal nostalgia from her childhood in combination with her ideas of biomorphism.
  • "I have a flood of ideas in my mind. I just follow my vision."

    - Yayoi Kusama

Kusama’s prints and multiples, including sculptures and editioned objects, extend her immersive art practice. From small-scale pumpkin sculptures to mirror boxes that reflect endless dots, these works embody her fixation on limitless space and repetitive forms. By creating prints and multiples, Kusama reinforces her belief that art should transcend boundaries. Whether in limited edition screenprints or meticulously crafted sculptures, her prints and multiples remain an essential part of her life-long career.
