"I take a cliche and try to organise its forms to make it monumental."
- Roy Lichtenstein
Roy Lichtenstein uses bright colours to heighten the visual impact of the composition. The vivid yellow wall stands out strongly against the cooler grey tones, creating a bold contrast that immediately draws the viewer’s eye. This use of saturated colour reflects Lichtenstein’s Pop Art approach, where simple, intense hues are used to emphasise form, create energy within the image and separate the graphic background from the more painterly brushstrokes inside the framed work.
