    BACK TO: MOVING FOCUS SERIES

Tyler Dining Room, 1984, is a colour lithograph by David Hockney from his Moving Focus series, depicting a vibrant domestic interior centred around a large dining table surrounded by chairs. The composition is rich in detail, featuring a prominent chandelier suspended above the table, a bold abstract painting in black and red on the wall, and a contrasting palette of pink walls and a patterned blue floor. To the right, a small side table with a candle in a glass vessel adds to the layered, intimate setting, while the overall arrangement creates a sense of depth and spatial complexity.

Produced in collaboration with master printer Kenneth Tyler, the work reflects Hockney’s continued experimentation with lithography, particularly in his use of colour and perspective. By pushing the technical boundaries of printmaking, Hockney constructs a space that feels both structured and fluid, using shifting viewpoints and bold design elements to challenge traditional representations of interior environments.
