Banksy’s original works from the 1990s mark the raw beginnings of his now unmistakable style. Emerging from the Bristol underground scene, these early pieces were often created on found materials using freehand spray paint and, later, stencils. Loosely formed rats, masked figures and anti-authoritarian slogans began to surface across walls and alleyways. Though less refined than later works, these originals carry the urgency, wit and political bite that would come to define his practice. They reflect a young artist testing boundaries and shaping a visual language rooted in dissent.

    - Banksy, Wall and Piece
Banksy’s early works in the 1990s laid the foundation for a career built on challenging power and amplifying the voices often ignored. Even in their rough, rebellious beginnings, these pieces carried a clear intent. They were not made to please but to provoke, to comfort the unheard and to unsettle those in control. This balance of confrontation and empathy became central to his place in the art world.
