This bronze sculpture reflects Arturo Di Modica’s early interest in abstraction, using a single upward form to explore balance, tension and movement. The structure is reduced to essential lines and curves, creating a clear interplay between solid mass and open space. It echoes the work Di Modica produced in Florence in the 1960s, when he was developing a sculptural language that moved away from figuration and towards more fluid, open forms.

The piece is supported by a simple, organic base that reinforces the sense of lift in the main form. Light moves evenly across the bronze surface, allowing the viewer to read the form without distraction. As an early abstraction, the sculpture shows the beginnings of ideas that would later inform Di Modica’s larger public works, offering insight into the foundations of his approach to structure and movement.
