Warhol's fascination with Marilyn Monroe began shortly after the young actresses tragic passing in 1962. Within the end of the year, he had made 32 separate paintings devoted to Marilyn and he would continue to create renditions throughout his career. The 1967 Marilyn suite are maybe the most sought after works from all Warhol's silkscreen series.
