    Painted in 1967, this Untitled oil on canvas measures 91.4 × 76.2 cm. By this point in her New York career, Yayoi Kusama had become widely recognised for her Infinity Net paintings and pioneering experimental environments.

     

    Works from the late 1960s often pushed her repetitive mark-making into larger and more assertive formats, reflecting her growing ambition to merge painting with immersive spatial experiences. This period marked a key transition in her practice, as she began to blur the boundaries between the painted surface and the surrounding environment.
