His plentiful catalogue raisonné encompasses over 20,000 paintings, and maintains globallly recognisable status for many of his works, such as 'The Old Guitarist, 1904' and 'Les Demoiselles d’Avignon, 1937'.

Affected by events within his life, Picasso's work continuously reflected his personal experiences during iconic eras such as his Blue Period and Analytical/Synthetic Cubism.
  • "It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child."

    - Pablo Picasso

Picasso's work is renowned for its abstract representation of a wide range of emotions and themes, including loneliness, despair, and joy. His art evolved significantly over time, reflecting different phases of his life, such as his bohemian experience in Paris and the exploration of motherhood after the birth of his children. These personal milestones influenced the themes in his later oeuvre. The development of his art into highly abstract works continued throughout his career, moving away from traditional approaches and lorded for his innovative use of form.
